How To Change A Halogen Bulb

The glass of halogen bulbs are sensitive to the oils from our skin.

If you touch a halogen bulb with your bare hands traces of skin oil will be left on the glass.

When the bulb is turned on it will heat up and the areas with oil on them will heat up at a different rate to the rest of the glass.

These hot spots can cause the glass to fail and the bulb to blow faster than normal.

Therefore, when you are changing a halogen bulb it is important not to touch it with your bare hands.

You can wear gloves or use a cloth to hold it with.

If you do accidentally touch the bulb you can clean it with rubbing alcohol before installing it.
